HeliSkiSafari 2016 – Days 4-6

Day 4
Exploring the largest glacier in Europe, we arrived sunbathed between snow-laden chalets in one of the most authentic valleys of the Swiss Alps. Staying overnight in a very old farm house will set a charming contrast to the forth coming peak of luxury in mountain hotels.

Day 5

A scenic flight awaits us direction the central Alps. Crossing a small, but challenging and steep ‘coll’, we need some real mountaineering adrenalin to attack the steep couloir on the other side. We encounter the first really good snow on the run down. A dramatic exit to the valley, amongst massive granite blocks towering around us, is huge compensation. We celebrate the halfway mark of our journey by getting pampered with a Balinese massage, fantastic SPA facilites and delicious Asian food in the heart of the Swiss Alps.

Day 6

After a day with enough sun and lazy luxury, we skip the heli drop today as strong winds and snow push us uphill on our skins. Hesitatingly considering it to turn back, we push on and finally make the peak and ski down on a thin layer of fresh snow to catch our train heading to the east.
